Two good things...

Make up your own mind on this one.

Self Reminder of PLaces to Go

Marcela's Creole in P Square

Petit Cochon

Le Pigeon (PDX)

Bunk Sandos (PDX)

and Bernal Cutlery (SF)

Pretty mad I was too lazy to cross Guerrero to look inside. I guessed it was some shitty pocket knife place or something. I was wrong. Wont make that mistake next time in SF

Dining OUT

Ate at Roux tonight. Decent place

Im finding a lot of places holding it down with cocktails. Had a "Battle of New Orleans"
Kind of an Old Fashioned with cool anise background. Also Doctor Boggs which was also more a less another Old Fashioned variation. I tend to drink more "spirit forward" beverages with particular interest in amaros and apertif and liquers like Suze and Chartruese, Cynar and Ramazzotti and peculiar stuff.

Food was good but Im noticing a lot of places making their interpretations of dishes and using popular ingredients. For example, farro, pork belly, offal, southern cooking, whiskey and bourbon, foams, agnolotti, blah blah etc etc.

Strong point was the Agnolotti actually redeeming. Its supposed to be creole but I opted out of the Jambalaya for some reason (Maybe because I used to work at Toulouse Petit) Standard use of brown butter and hazelnut and fried sage. Quince flavor made it stand out.

Started with fried pig ear with blue cheese and nuts. Kind of like a thai salad. Not very crazy or weird but solid. For 6 bucks it was probably the most fulfilling item at its price point.

Also had a fried rabbit saddle .

As much as I wanted to like it , I was slightly disappointed. Rabbit probably shouldn't be breaded and fried and served with picnic style potato salad. Not bad just didn't seem very smart. Also not really worth 12 bucks although I hate people who put to much emphasis on pricing on meals.

Dessert menu was a little on the safe side with a banana split, chocolate torte, and cheesecake.

I went for beignets with coffee. No creme anglaise here for the donuts so I got some soft serve for accompaniment.

All in all decent place. I would definately grab a drink if Im near the place again.
Although HA is down the street and I like the owner and would probably be there before or after.

On a side note, I will be continuing on my search for good Seattle food.

Seem heres , as with a lot of places in the country, there are a lot to of places to weed through and Im anxious to be really generous with praise. I like being challenged by food and drink and am less interested in decor and hype and notoriety and conceptualism.

That said here are some places I find continually satisfying and that to me have some passion and soul behind the scenes.

This is far more verbose of a post for an unread food bloggish waste of space.

Anyhow...

Best hand made and inexpensive pasta.  Owners are good people.

Friendly to industry folks (or just me) and creative food presentation and flavors.

Super solid bar with creative cocktails and intelligent and curious staff.

Awesome taco truck by CLink. The brick and mortar in Ballard is also good.

My favorite truck on the hill disappeared but this isnt going anywhere.

Great salsas and a good truck always has lengua and cachete/cabeza.

Mistral Kitchen rules. Can cost a buck if you want it to but If you wanna sit around and eat and drink for a couple of hours its rather impressive like a good long movie. Probably Michelin quality if they rated Seattle stuff.

Miss working here. Still go the bar. Awesome beer and good booze selection. Everyone here is into food and drink for real. Chef knows what he's doing and the food here is way better than it should be for a pub. Way better than most food you can get in Seattle and nothing will ever cost you much more than 20 bucks unless that put a special on maybe.

Pretty all around great place.

My living room.

Finally this is probably one of my favorite places in the city. I used to go to Duk Li down the street but started going here for some reason. Used to go when I worked as a bike messenger pretty often. Probably will when I go back to being a (broke) messenger. Get the good stuff. Chicken feet and pig stomach. They got some gwai lo stuff too. They are nice I cant get enough dim sum.
